PRD
(Performance Review and Development) City of Edinburgh Council
At our last Joint Consultative Group meeting UNISON raised concerns around the current council PRD process.
Whilst UNISON strongly believe that managers should regularly sit down with their staff to offer guidance and support, we are not sure that the current system is the best way.
UNISON believes that the PRD process is unfair and can often be used in a negative way. Some members have reported being forced to complete the forms in their own time. This is unacceptable and members should not be doing this.
PRD is only mandatory from Grade 5. Members in Grades 1-4 are only "encouraged" to take part. This is divisive.
Whilst reiterating that UNISON believes in the good practice of managers/staff meeting regularly , we will support anyone of our members in Grades 1-4 who feel unable to take part in the formal PRD process.
The council will now look to review and change the PRD procedure and intend to set up a working group. Unison have been invited to take part.
We will keep members updated of progress.
