CONFERENCE 2007
Conference backs Edinburgh call to campaign for
'Access to Work'
Conference threw its weight behind the Access to Work scheme
for disabled people and recognised the important role it plays
in supporting people with a range of disabilities into work.
With Edinburgh's amendment, it pledged to campaign against the
privatisation of employment services which would have a serious
detrimental impact on disabled people.
UNISON Edinburgh's Equality and Service Conditions Officer Irene
Stout told conference that this is an issue which affects many
of our members.
"UNISON has a proud record of supporting those in society and
the workplace who are disadvantaged for whatever reason," she
said, calling on the union to keep up the pressure on the Government
to rethink their privatisation plans.
