The Branch has over 700 members in around 200 separate employers
in the Voluntary and Community Sector.
There is a Shop Stewards Committee for Voluntary and Community
Sector members. These pages carry news from that committee from
time to time.
The Voluntary and Community Sector is increasingly central to
providing public services in Scotland. Although it does not have
a UNISON Service Group, there is a Sector Committee at Scottish
and UK level - follow the link to the UNISON
Scotland pages - and at
UK level, recognising the important role of members who work
for projects that have Local Government and Health Service links.
UNISON is the largest union in the community and voluntary sector
with more than 30,000 members working in every type of job across
all grades. Our members work in non-profit organisations ranging
from large national charities with hundreds of employees to small-grant
aided projects employing one part-timer.
They provide a range of services to local communities and campaign
on all sorts of issues. UNISON works to create partnerships between
the union and employers through which everyone co-operates to improve
terms and conditions and strengthen the organisation. Our priorities
include ending low pay, tackling stress and violence in the workplace
and working to make sure all staff get proper training opportunities
Please tell the Branch office if there are any changes in address,
phone number or if you change job.
