UNISON Branch Officers (John Mulgrew, Service
Conditions Co-ordinator and Barbara Foubister,
Branch Chair) will make representations to the
Council Executive at 10am. Nursery Nurses will
assemble in the City Chambers quadrangle at
10.15 for a feedback on the meeting.
Wednesday 8 October 2003: Lobby Bute House
10.00am Then Scott Monument, Princes Street
Gardens, Edinburgh, 11.45am
Nursery nurses will assemble to begin asking
members of the public in the city centre to
sign petitions to urge the CoSLA to re-open
talks. Followed by a meeting of nursery
nurses at St Cuthberts Church, Lothian Road
from 2-3pm.
Thursday 9 October 2003 - leaflet Scottish
Parliament 09.00
Nursery nurses will leaflet at the Scottish
Parliament from 09.00 - 10.30 (Lawnmarket entrance).
It is also hoped that an MSP will raise a question
on the dispute at First Ministers Questions
from 12.00.
Additional information
There are 18 nursery schools but also another
80 nursery classes in Edinburgh. UNISON has
391 education nursery nurses taking part in
action. Headteachers being pressurised to open
or partially open, nevertheless, two-thirds
of all provision is affected by the strike.
