Branch Meeting Survey

What would get you to come to branch meetings? - Membership Survey

In 2002 we had to recall the AGM because not enough people turned up. We only need a quorum of 200 out of 9,000 members, but still it took a second meeting to achieve that. Why couldn't we do it the first time, especially with the Car Allowances controversy running? Now it's your chance to have your say.

1. Time of Meetings
Meetings are timed at 6.00pm with an 8pm cut-off to ensure members can plan, especially if they have care arrangements. When we've had recall meetings at 5.30, they've been better attended. What are your views on timing? How long should meetings be?

2. Venue of meetings
The Assembly Rooms is spacious enough for us, while the City Chambers is too tight a fit. Both have parking problems. The Queens Hall is expensive but parking is easier. The University has good parking but not so accessible by public transport. What are your views on the venue for meetings?

3. Services for members
We currently provide a signer, creche, carers allowance, materials in alternative formats. Are there other things we could provide - for example we used to lay on a buffet, should we do that again?

4. Meetings are boring/ too formal
Meetings need to be organised otherwise the loudest voices will dominate. But are they too formal? Should we have officer question and answer sessions? Would it be better to be seated round tables or in groups? Have you any suggestions that may make meetings more comfortable for you?

5. Do you get to hear about the meetings in the first place?
Is workplace distribution working? How would you like to get your information?
