Communications
REPORT 2004
Communications: Website gets half a million hits a year
Branch Magazine: We have not issued as many as we would
have wanted this year. The magazine takes about three weeks
from writing to getting into workplaces and for major issues
this is too long, especially in disputes such as the nursery
nurses. We have therefore concentrated on specific bulletins
on specific issues and about 15 of those have gone out throughout
the year.
The Branch Website has become a very important tool
not only in getting out news quickly in situations like the
nursery nurse action but also as a resource for more detailed
documents. The site now has over 400 pages and is running at
over 500,000 hits a year.
The top visited pages were Social Work, press releases and
About the Branch but Pay Rates topped the list in January.
Media: We continue to try to get our members' views
across in the media while there have been quiet times we still
have a high profile in the local and national media.
