October is Black history month. This happens every October and gives everyone the chance to celebrate and understand the importance of Black culture and heritage which can be overlooked.
The first black history month started in the United States in the 1920’s by Carter G Woodson whose parents were former slaves and was first celebrated in the U.K in 1987, the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the Caribbean.
