The Edinburgh Integrated Joint Board (EIJB) dismissed the concerns raised by UNISON and other deputations at their meeting held Monday 18 March. As such we are now facing a critical moment in our city’s history where the very provision of health and social care services is now at risk. The loss of these essential services will have a devastating and long-lasting effect on our communities.
UNISON will not take this lying down. We have fought for you from the very beginning and have lobbied and campaigned on your behalf and that of our elderly and vulnerable residents and service users. We pledge that we will continue to do so. Our commitment to safeguarding jobs, advocating for our members, and defending social care is our bond. Our communities deserve better, and you deserve better.
We invite you and your colleagues to join us in standing up for our social care services. If you’re as passionate as we are about protecting these essential services and making a positive impact in Edinburgh, then join us. One voice can be ignored, many cannot. If there are no stewards in your area, consider becoming one. You can play a crucial role in representing your colleagues and driving positive change within your workplaces and beyond. We believe in the power of collective action, and we believe in you.
We cannot stand back and watch essential social care services in Edinburgh be ruined, ransacked, and decimated. They’re worth fighting for and UNISON will fight for them. I ask that you fight for them too.
A difference can be made when we stand together.
