Local Government Pay 2023/24

Pay Claim 2024

Our pay survey of members concluded on Tuesday.  Almost 23,000 members responded which was a great return given it was only open for a short window.  Of those over 3,000 members volunteered to be pay contacts for their branch and over 1,000 members volunteered to become UNISON reps.  We will ensure that all branches get their details so you can follow up on all that enthusiasm.

Your LG Committee met yesterday to review the results from the survey and agree our objectives for the claim.  Further to that we have engaged with Unite to see if we could reach agreement on a joint claim and I’m pleased to report that this has been secured and has now been submitted. (The GMB already submitted a claim of their own without reference to us)

Click here for our 2024 pay claim  – please do circulate this to members so we can start to engage them on the issues.

LG Funding

Local government funding continues to be a source of huge concern.  The recent Accounts Commission Report (see here) laid bare the extent of the problem and if you only read one thing on this issue make it that (the graph on page 10, exhibit 4 is particularly useful).

I know I say this all the time but any information on local budgets/cuts would be very useful – please do forward so we know what is going on across the country.
