UNISON continue to engage with our members when Katrina Baird, Lynn McLaughlin, (branch officers), and Denise McKenzie (area organiser), held a successful recruitment stall at the East Locality Office on the 20th November promoting our national Year of the LGBT+ Worker’s campaign.
Thanks to our current and new members who took the time to speak to us about their concerns as it gives us the opportunity to give advice on several key organising issues including Health & Social Care, Social Work, Corporate Services and Housing. We also highlighted the opportunities for building unity and strength via productive engagement to improve workplace conditions.
“Our members are facing significant challenges, and it’s crucial that we work together to tackle them,” said Katrina Baird, service conditions officer. By coming to workplaces like this, we’re able to have meaningful conversations and build stronger networks.”
As our branch plans to increase its organising efforts in all sectors over the coming months our continued visits aim to empower workers and foster unity and strength.
“We look forward to more visits like this to continue building momentum for the challenges ahead, my aim is to get more representation for women in the movement” added Lynn McLaughlin, woman’s officer.
