To mark UN International Day of Older Persons 2024, the Scottish Pensioner Forum, in conjunction with its members and affiliates, will be demonstrating outside the Scottish Parliament and calling for Ministers and MSP’s to recognise the burden the cost of living crisis is having on older people across Scotland, made worse by the withdrawal of the winter fuel allowance for many pensioners, and how this could put an even greater demand on health and social care services this winter.
Even more older people across Scotland, and indeed the UK, will be facing extreme fuel poverty and making the difficult decision on whether to eat or heat.
With no chance to prepare, or even budget for the extra case needed to pay for rising energy costs of 10% this winter, we need to make a stand for our older people.
Join with us to make our voices heard.
We will be assembling from 10:45am outside the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 26th September
