“With Local Government pay negotiations continuing last week our Branch Officers mobilised to keep the pressure on the Deputy First Minister and the employers by demonstrating outside the Scottish Office and CoSLA.
The joint Trade Union negotiating team are calling on the Scottish Government to increase funding to Local Authorities to improve the current derisory offer. However, John Swinney was more interested in having industrial action suspended while negotiations continued. Our waste and cleansing colleagues have shown how essential they are having worked through the pandemic, they’ve now shown again how important they are with waste covering the city during the festival. Other Local Authorities waste and cleansing teams have now started industrial action said Ian Mullen, Branch Health and Safety Officer”.
