UNISON AGM – Thank you!

UNISON AGM – A SUCCESS

Yesterday was our last of 3 Aggregate AGM’s, and as with the previous 2 meetings, it was a great success. Each meeting was well attended by your fellow UNISON members, both physically and virtually, and I am genuinely pleased to announce that we exceeded our quorum of 150 way beyond our initial expectations. A big thank you goes out to those who made the effort to attend.

There was a great deal of discussion had at the AGM’s around each of the motions with unanimous support being given to each submission. Each motion mandates this branch to act on your behalf on issues as varied as budget cuts, underfunding, pay, violence in the workplace and LGBT+ rights. On each of these days it was good to see so many of our members asking questions, sharing their stories and being inflamed with passion for the services they provide. Long may this continue. Our trade union is at its strongest when we speak to each other and then act as one.

We now move forward more confidently in what we do. Whatever 2025 brings we will meet that challenge knowing we have your support. UNISON would make one further request to you by asking that you consider taking on a more active role in your trade union, helping us build on our recent achievements. When our members see a meaningful trade union presence in their workplace, they respond. Could you be that catalyst?

If this is something you would be interested in, then please contact UNISON on branchoffice@unison-edinburgh.org.uk or alternatively call us on 0131 558 7488. We would love to hear from you.

Once again, I would like to thank all those who attended our 3 aggregate AGM’s (especially those who came along to more than just the one that was required!), you made a real difference. This is a more proactive branch, and we hope in the coming year that you, the most important part of this trade union, will be just as proactive.

Thank you.
